Babysitter Bloodbath is a novelized version of a video game of the same name, and is represented in book form by Regina Watts. It takes place in a suburban town that hosts a very particular home with a dark past. Everyone knows of its history except for teenage Sarah, who is naively babysitting the kid of the present homeowners. What she doesn't know is that 20 years prior, this home belonged to Neoklaus Burr, a man who violently murdered his wife and children. Though he was promptly sent to a psychiatric facility for decades, he has recently broken out, and leaves death in his path as he makes his way towards the very house where he committed the grandest atrocity the town had ever seen.
Things You Should Consider Before Reading
This is the text that I want to indent. I want create a margin on both sides so that it doesn't go the full width of the page. Don't ask me why I want to do this. I just do!
Though I can't recommend the book enough, I want to leave a very serious disclaimer if you're interested. This book is written beautifully, but the themes it covers is murder (of both adults and children), assault, very detailed blood and gore, and severe trauma. Please consider these things before jumping right in.

Main Characters
All of the characters in Babysitter Bloodbath are written very well and offer a realistic aspect to the story, but the main characters were the best part about the book. This includes:
Sarah: Sarah is a teenage girl aged 17-18 who babysits for the Johnsons at a house with a bloody past. She's very smart, caring, thoughtful, and loyal, considering her actions through the book and until the very end. Despite all of this, she's still just a teenager, and just wants everything to be good for her.
Jill: Jill is Sarah's snarky and sarcastic 17-18 year old best friend who keeps Sarah company at the Johnson house and even tells her of the house's history. Though often not showing affection towards Sarah, you can tell she loves her based off of what she does in the book.
Jack: Jack is a boy that Sarah has a crush on, and is invited to the Johnson house to have fun and drink after Sarah puts the kid to sleep. Jack is about 18-19 years old, and is very cool but not much is known about him.
Neoklaus: Neoklaus is a very dangerous, almost animalistic man with a taste for murder and no remorse for anyone. He's extremely strong, quiet, and moves with speed and conviction. Nothing is known about him or even why he's killing, but he doesn't speak or even mutter a noise towards anyone.
Setting
The story takes place is the quiet suburbs in Monroe, Washington of 1982, which is the why the nature of the book and its contents surprises everyone in the story and leaves people shocked, afraid, and disgusted.
Major Conflict
Major events that happen in the story would be Neoklaus Burr escaping the facility he was kept in, and what he proceeded to do murder all of the people he came across. Neoklaus does things that a normal human being wouldn't right after escaping the facility that was holding him for 20 years. He goes back to the town that he committed a horrendous, violent murder, and intends to bask in the fear and chaos he's going to cause. Though animalistic, he's smart and sneaky, using things to throw off everyone he comes across, and kills quick with no mercy. The goal for everyone in the town is to never encounter Neoklaus, because any encounter with him is guaranteed death.
My Favorite Part
There is a specific scene in Babysitter Bloodbath where Sarah is hiding in the cellar away from Neoklaus, and he comes down to look for her. In this chapter, you feel like you're holding your breath with Sarah as she waits in the dark, hidden and terrified, and the fear she feels when she realizes that it's only a matter of time before his eyes adjust to the darkness is represented well. In this moment, Neoklaus walks over somewhere else in the cellar and turns his back, which gives Sarah just enough time to get up and dash upstairs.
Why Did The Author Write This Book?
I feel like the author wrote this to exclaim their love for the horror genre and represent their fascination with it in novel form. It's very clear that the author has a passion for writing and horror, and makes the two come together and create something that'll leave you shivering but still hooked.
Do I Recommend This Book?
Honestly, I can't recommend the book enough! If you have a keen interest for horror and reading, Babysitter Bloodbath is an amazing book for you! The premise starts off strong out the gate, the story and tension progresses steadily, and the plot is pretty strong. There's terror, good writing, and the type of pacing that makes you hungry for more! It's a very good read and you can read it relatively quickly.
